Frequently Asked Questions

What does “somatic” mean and why is somatic work important?

“Somatic” comes from the word soma, meaning the body. Somatic work focuses on tuning into your body’s wisdom; noticing sensations, movement, and patterns that reveal how you hold tension, stress, or emotion.

It’s important because the body often experiences and stores what the mind hasn’t fully processed. By connecting with your body in a gentle, mindful way, somatic work helps you:

• Build awareness and presence
• Strengthen self-connection
• Supports overall wellbeing

What is the nervous system and why is nervous system work important?

The nervous system is your body’s safety and stress response system. It controls how we feel, react, and move through life, whether calm, alert, anxious, or shut down.

When stress, trauma, or long-term strain accumulates, the nervous system can get “stuck,” which may show up as:

• Anxiety or overwhelm
• Exhaustion or burnout
• Tension or discomfort in the body
• Difficulty relaxing or feeling present

Nervous system work helps your body move out of survival mode and back into balance, safety, and regulation; creating space for healing, rest, and reconnection.

What is energy work and why is it important?

Energy work supports the body’s natural ability to release stored stress and trauma.

Our experiences aren’t just stored in the mind; they’re also held in the body and nervous system. Techniques like Spinal Energetics help release these patterns, restore flow, and support regulation.

• Clients may notice:
• Relaxation and emotional release
• Increased clarity
• A sense of lightness

Every experience is unique.

Once I’ve chosen my treatment, how many sessions will I need?

This depends on:

• The treatment you’ve chosen
• What you hope to achieve
• Your unique needs and experiences

All of the treatments On.ah offers are rooted in nervous system regulation and somatic awareness. Some sessions are more body-focused and physical, while others emphasize energy work, and many combine both approaches.

A single session is a great introduction, but for those seeking deeper shifts and lasting change, a series or package of sessions is recommended.

Clients who are committed to supporting their nervous system and energetic health, begin with an initial session to explore their baseline, and then continue with a series or package of ongoing sessions tailored to their goals. This allows for meaningful progress, deeper integration, and a more profound sense of balance, vitality, and self-connection.

Is this work trauma-informed and safe?

Yes. All sessions are trauma-informed, client-led, and focused on safety and consent.
You remain in control at all times, and everything moves at a pace your body feels comfortable with.
